DECIDE not to look back

It’s your decisions that bring your business forward and determine its destiny, not external conditions or management life stories. Daily decisions you make based on your beliefs, emotional drivers and resources. If you want a different outcome, evolve and grow, you have to make a decision today to leave the past behind, keep an open mind, think out of the box and be prepared to move out of your comfort zone. It’s the future that counts.

Driving a car forward using the rear mirror to check past conditions, no matter how experienced the driver you are, will make you crash. Driving forward and looking into side mirrors to check the current situation will make you crash. Planning your journey, and driving looking ahead to see clearly the conditions in front of you so you can adapt quickly if required, and only checking by a glance, past conditions in the rear and the current situation in the side mirrors, will get you successfully to your final destination.

CHALLENGE invisible barriers

Ask yourself what it is you accept about your business that’s controlling and limiting you.
Unspoken barriers and overwhelming beliefs are limitations, disallowing you to act, move forward and grow. Whatever you believe in, you make it true. There might be structural, financial or environmental limitations that prohibit you from achieving your goals. Until these are investigated in detail, and it’s proven a solution doesn’t exist, these limitations are only there because you convinced yourself they are barriers to the next level.

Mindset

When you are in a state of frustration, despair or tiredness your mind processes information differently than if you feel empowered, passionate or excited. Mindset is our subconsciousness, our handbrake that keeps us safe in our comfort zone. That’s the default position of everybody’s mind. It’s being fed by stories we tell to justify our actions or lack of it and our body biochemistry. To take control, and to be fully in charge of your decisions, you must learn to change your mental-emotional state, reset the default programme and train it to switch from negative emotion (stress) to positive (drive).

Pitch

Changing the story you tell yourself to justify your decisions or lack of action, changes your mindset and ultimately your business. A negative pitch kills the hunger, drive and passion, gives reason to maintain the status quo, giving a false sense of security.  Instead, take ownership of your past decisions, learn from experience and create a powerful pitch that empowers, gives strength, positively tunes your mindset and pushes you beyond your fears towards success. Think about what you achieved so far, your success stories, skills you learnt, and knowledge you gained and consider your fear factors whether realistic barriers or emotional blockage: fear of success or failure.

Strategy

It is a recipe, every time you use it, you get the results. It is a process that allows you to constantly grow and deliver the results that you need. It requires a detailed review of the current conditions and future trends so the recipe you create makes you do the right thing at the right time, becoming this little thing that changes everything. While strategy is a recipe, always ready for cooking, it’s passive and its execution hugely depends on the mindset and pitch of the business owner.
